Happy 4th Anniversary Lu & Ursula Hernandez!

Hi everyone.  The week has been going okay.  I'm a little tired, not too bad though.  It's been kinda cool because I have been able to hang with some friends during this week, which has been fun.  I've discovered that my friend Melanie (along with probably MANY others) also thinks Journey is a kickass 80s band.  They are dude!  I've had "Don't Stop Believin'" in my head for weeks now!  I swear, everyone likes Journey.  And those who claim not to are probably closet fans unwilling to fess.  Damn, the song is in my ahead again right now!  ("Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world ... She took the midnight train goin' anywhere ...")

Anyway, I'm pretty tired right now.  Larry and I watched the Astros beat the Cardinals, and then I finished some paperwork and just finished the Lost episode which I TiVo'd.  Damn I love that show.  If you aren't a fan of it, you don't know what you're missing!  It's a great show.  Enough of that though.  It's late and time to get some rest.  Today (Thursday) will be fun, and the week is almost over.  I can't wait for Texas to beat Missouri on Saturday.  I hate bye weeks like last week.  I'm ready for some Texas football again!  We'll take care of Mizzou this weekend, and then bitch-slap the Sooners the next week!  TX/OU weekend can't get here soon enough!  That's all for now y'all.  I'll talk to y'all tomorrow.  Bye!  -- Michael

09/26/05 (02:00 AM) -- Happy B-Day to, like, Everyone!  [Music: "Losing My Religion" by R.E.M.  I  Mood: Tired]

It's been a crazy last few days.  It kinda feels like it has been one long-ass weekend, given the Hurricane capturing the attention of the whole state of Texas.  It's over now though.  I hope no one, particularly in the Houston/Galveston area, was severely affected by all the madness.  Hurricanes are a part of life I guess.  Growing up in The C.C., you get used to them.  Anyway, I'm glad it's over ... until the next one.

Nothing to write right now, sorry.  Just wanted to get a quick word on here and say "hello".  This week will be long, but I hope to keep the site updated.  If I don't get another chance, "Happy Birthday" goes out to all the peeps who had a birthday recently, as well as those who are having one this week.  Bye y'all! -- Michael

09/20/05 (05:00 AM) -- Aggie Fans  [Music: "Loser" by Beck  I  Mood: Annoyed]

Happy Birthday David Butler!

I honestly have no clue how some Aggie fans can be so stupid.  Don't get me wrong, not all Texas A&M people are idiots.  I have lots of cool friends that are Aggies.  They love their school, and are passionate about their teams.  There is nothing wrong with that.  Those people, like Monica, Rudy, Helen, Chad, Andres, Gabe M., they're all normal good Aggie fans.  The sad fact is though, that they are the minority.

Last week there was this one Aggie that completely epitomized what I am talking about.  This person was a total tool.  All they talked about was Aggie shit, and how they are superior to Texas in every way.  Even when the conversation attempted to sway into normalcy, this person would never let it go.  They would always try to incorporate something else about Aggieland.  I mean seriously?  It's cool to love your school.  But this is why people think Aggies are dumb as shit.  It's the Gomer that thinks SMU is a "big win" ... yet Ohio State is not, the Gomer that will NEVER stop talking about "tu" ... they make y'all look like idiots.  Again, there are plenty of good Aggies out there.  But it's the dumbasses that make y'all seem so damn brainwashed.

This person tried to talk about how A&M is historically better than Texas in football and academics.  They tried to argue that Reggie McNeal is better than Vince Young.  They tried to lecture all that cult-ish crap they teach in Fish Crap ... excuse me, Fish Camp.  They also tried to say that ... no lie ... Texas A&M will win the national championship THIS season because Reggie will win the Heisman and Coach Fran is the best coach in college football.  And the thing is, they were pretty much talking to his/herself.  No one was paying any attention.  Even other Aggies were annoyed with this person.  Again, this is why y'all are perceived as idiots.

Look, be passionate about your team.  Bend over and yell your hearts out.  Sway in every direction.  Bow down to that collie mutt mix.  Suck face with the person next to you, regardless of gender, when your team scores.  Engage in friendly football conversations.  'Whoop' til the cows come home.  Honestly, if that's what y'all do, then cool.  To each his own.  But don't be an idiot by being more focused on another school rather than your own.  Don't pretend you are better than you are.  Don't annoy people with your cult-ish practices.  Instead of running your mouth about the "magic" of Kyle Field, focus on selling it out once and a while.  Some of us don't give a damn about the 12th man or the spirit of Aggieland.  To my cool normal Aggie friends, thanks for being intelligent mature people.  To the Gomers that give y'all a bad name ... get a life!

All of this made me think back to Jim Rome's comments on Texas A&M back in 2001.  It was some of the funniest stuff I ever heard.  For those wanting to relive the immortal words, enjoy!  -- Michael

09/19/05 (04:00 PM) -- Busy  [Music: "Only The Young" by Journey  I  Mood: Busy]

09/18/05 (04:30 PM) -- Busy  [Music: "Lights" by Journey  I  Mood: Busy]

Hey y'all.  I don't have much for y'all today. Yesterday's game against Rice was yet another yawner.  51-10, and I was pissed they scored 10 points!  We got a bye week before we go to Mizzou which could be a land mine type of game.  You never know with them.  I think we'll pull through though.  Then onto OU weekend.  I wish OU could win a damn game so are matchup would be more appealing.  We HAVE to beat them now.  If we don't ... completely unacceptable.  The season is shaping up as a good one.  Talk to y'all later. -- Michael

09/14/05 (01:30 AM) -- Still on a high  [Music: "Texas" by George Strait  I  Mood: Tired]

Happy Birthday Michael Schechter!

Hey everyone.  I'm still on a high from last weekend's game against Ohio State.  It was such as awesome game.  Vince came through in the clutch baby!  If we handle our business throughout the rest of the year, there is no doubt we will be playing for the national championship in January.  I definitely think Ohio State, on the road, was going to be out toughest game this season.  Don't get me wrong, OU will still be tough despite the fact that they are sucking it this season so far.  Likewise, at Kyle Field is always a potential landmine.  But if we can win in the 'shoe, we can win it out.  There's still a lot of football to be played ... but make no mistake I expect to be spending New Years at the Rose Bowl baby!  -- Michael

Wow!  What a game!  #2 Texas 25 - #4 Ohio State 22.  Hell yeah we just won a big game!  -- Michael

09/10/05 (03:00 AM) -- TEXAS ... FIGHT!  [Music: "Texas Fight" by Texas Longhorn Band  I  Mood: Anxious]

#2 Texas Longhorns at #4 Ohio State Buckeyes @ 7:00 PM on ABC!

It's Game Day damnit!  I totally can't sleep because I am SO pumped for tonight's game!!!  I have been waiting for this for so long now.  Now that it's finally here, 7:00 PM can't get here soon enough.  You know how big this game is?  A friend (who will remain nameless J ) is having an event tonight.  They are so aware of tonight's game that they decided to rent big screen TVs to place outside so the game can be on.  Likewise, on the invitation to the event, a real quality invitation I might add, it specifically states "Dinner @ 6:30 PM ... Texas vs. Ohio State @ 7:00 PM"!  Classic!  I love it!

The game will be tough, but I see our offensive line controlling the line of scrimmage and thus the game.  We will go ahead for good in the 4th quarter.  Texas wins 27-24.  I hope I am right.  Is it kickoff yet?!?! -- Michael

09/09/05 (12:00 AM) -- Tired  [Music: "Bent" by matchbox twenty  I  Mood: Tired]

Happy Birthday Lana (Buchanan) Polzin!

09/08/05 (12:30 AM) -- Agassi ... Wow!  [Music: "Lose Yourself" by Eminem  I  Mood: Drained]

Words cannot express how badass that tennis match was.  Wow!  Andre Agassi is absolutely amazing.  I feel sorry for those of y'all who don't enjoy tennis because tonight's match was some of the best competition any sport as to offer.  Andre was down to James Blake two sets and a break in the third.  I mean Blake was killing Andre, and yet some how he found a way to break back in the third, and then break again and win the third set ... and then the fourth ... and the match went to a tie-breaker in the fifth set!  Andre won in the tie-breaker and completed one of the greatest comebacks in US Open history.  I am literally drained because I was so pumped during the match.  I seriously thought he was done.  But that's why Andre is one of, if not my absolute favorite athlete.  He never gives up, has heart, and finds a way to win.  Amazing!  3-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (6) was the score.  Again, those to don't like tennis don't know what they are missing.  Tonight was as good as it gets.  Andre Agassi baby ... I hope he wins it all!  -- Michael

09/07/05 (11:45 PM) -- Amazing Tennis Match!  [Music: "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor  I  Mood: Amped]

09/01/05 (12:45 PM) -- Katrina  [Music: "The Change" by Garth Brooks  I  Mood: Shock]

Happy Birthday Angela (Bates) Villarreal!

I can't express enough how amazed I am at the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina.  I can only imagine what those people might be going through.  I can't believe a city the size of New Orleans is virtually ruined.  Growing up in The C.C., you tend to know a think or two about Hurricanes.  When we were in 5th grade, Larry and I did out SDLs on Hurricanes during Athenafest at Windsor Park.  Both of us learned a lot during that time, especially because category five Hurricane Gilbert slapped the hell out of the Gulf Coast just a few weeks prior during the summer.  That mother killed Cancun with 160 mph winds, got into the Gulf, and ultimately headed into Northern Mexico.  Nonetheless, Texas still took the brunt of the northern wind and rain bands.  There were a few other hurricanes to got into the Gulf, though, at least to my memory, nothing significant happened again until 1999 when Hurricane Brett headed for town.  By then I was already is Austin so I wasn't around to see any of it.  I think it was like a cat. two or three hurricane.  It was headed straight for Corpus, and then at the last minute hit just north of town.  And as most hurricane aficionados know, the killer stuff of the storms is on the northern side of the eye wall.  So for the most part The C.C. was spared.

Through all the hurricanes over few decades, I have never seen anything like what happened this week.  I mean that town is killed.  I know a lot has to do with the levees breaking and stuff, but still!  Gulfport and Biloxi look hammered.  It literally looks like pictures from the early 1900 hurricanes when they tore everything up because technology wasn't as advanced yet.  I think that is what is surprising ... that in this year of 2005, a storm can still cause THIS much damage.  Whatever is going on in your life, however rough you might think you have it ... I would guess that is doesn't compare to what those people are going through.  Watch the news channels and you'll know exactly what I mean.  Keep them in your thoughts.  -- Michael
