05/31/04 -- Memorial Day!
05/29/04 -- Congratulations to Melissa Morales and David Williams on
their wedding day!
05/26/04 -- Hey y'all. Sorry I haven't
written in a while. Things have been busy, and I was out of town for some
time. But I am back now.
Man, it seems like I am always playin' catch-up with this
website. Like for instance right now, I would like to sit down to write
for a bit, but I first want to update the sections that need it. By the
time I am done with that, I then write the entries (such as this one).
Problem is, though, I always run out of time. I'd love to write more (and
hopefully, time permitting, I'll be able to do so). Thanks to everyone who
expresses interest in the site, as well as those who write in wondering where my
words have been. Again, I am doing my best to be regular. That being
said...
I only have time for a few things today. There are a few
new names in the Weddings/Engagements
section. Happy Belated Birthday goes out to Jennifer Rodela (May
21st)! I hope you had a good one Jen! And a big congratulations is
extended to Dr. Jason Ahuero and Dr. Alice Watson Ahuero! Both graduated
from Baylor College of Medicine yesterday. They'll be starting their
internship and residency next month. Proud of you buddy!
Some of you have asked about the Chat
page on the site. Just click on the "Chat Live"
link above, then type in any login name you would like. You must pick one
that is not currently being used, so be creative 'cause regular names sometimes
are taken. That's it. Whoever is in the room at the same time can
chat with each other. Some of y'all have said y'all never see me in
there. I guess my visits to the page are sometimes random. So I have
set aside a few minutes this afternoon to be in the chat room. I'll be in
the room at 1:00 pm today in case anyone wants to enter and talk. From now
on, I'll try to preannounce a time for those who want to chat. Thanks
again for expressing interest.
Okay, that's about it for now. I hope to write a little
more later on tomorrow, or MAYBE later this afternoon if I have
time. I'll try to get to everyone's e-mails today. But for
now, I leave you with some exciting news from Jimmy Guerra. He recently
served on manager of a project at his plant that will be going national this
summer. Below is the press release. Way to go Jimbo! --
Michael
"Pringles Announces First-Of-Its Kind
Technology that Prints Directly on Individual Crisps
Revolutionary New Pringles Prints? Will Initially
Feature Fun Facts and Animal Facts for
Kids in Innovative Partnership with Hasbro's Trivial Pursuit® Junior
CINCINNATI, May 20, 2004 - The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG), the
makers of Pringles®, the #1 selling stacked potato crisp,
today introduced Pringles Prints, an innovative snack that
features a unique, fun design printed on every crisp. The
revolutionary Prints technology, from the brand that invented the stacked
chip category, allows P&G to customize the crisps by printing words and images in a variety of colors directly on the chip.
Supported by a multi-million dollar marketing campaign, including television
advertising new packaging, and coupons, Pringles Prints builds on the successful
introduction of Snack Stacks® in 2002. P&G
is partnering with Hasbro (NYSE:HAS), a worldwide leader in children's and
family leisure time entertainment products, to use Trivial Pursuit Junior trivia
content. Pringles Prints will feature 2,400 fun trivia questions
and answers from six different Trivial Pursuit Junior categories (Today &
Tomorrow, Music, Movies, Nature,
Yesterday and Whatever) randomly printed on the potato crisps. Pringles Prints
Trivial Pursuit Junior will be available nationwide in August 2004.
Additionally, Pringles Prints Fun Facts, Animal Facts and Jokes will become
available in select U.S. retail locations in June and July 2004.
"Pringles is the leader and founder of the stacked crisp category and
now we're taking it to a whole new level," said Jamie Egasti, Vice
President of Procter & Gamble's North America Snacks
Division. "With the introduction of Pringles Prints, we have developed a
new way to delight consumers by adding fun and excitement
to one of kids' favorite lunchtime snacks while delivering incremental volume
growth for our customers."
Pringles Prints are made using a proprietary technology. Words and images can
be printed on one side of the crisp right side up, upside down, in blue or red.
This technology is the first-of-its kind in the U.S. to be used on food. The
technology uses food colorings and doesn't alter the delicious taste of this popular snack.
For now, Pringles Prints will be available in Original flavor only in
canister and Snack Stacks sizes. Snack Stacks Prints offer a portion control
size that is convenient for mom and fun for kids, and is
perfect for the lunchbox. Pringles Prints in Canisters and Snack Stacks have a
suggested retail price equivalent to other Pringles
products of similar size. In the future, Pringles Prints introductions will
feature new printing colors, designs, images and innovative partnerships.
For more information on Pringles, visit http://www.pringles.com."
05/25/04 -- Jason Ahuero's and Alice Watson Ahuero's
graduation day from Baylor College of Medicine!
05/21/04 -- Happy Birthday Jennifer Rodela!
05/20/04 -- The site should be current
again. I think I got everything working again properly. If for some
reason I didn't and you have noticed wrong, please let me know.
This website
was e-mailed to me awhile
back. I was finally able to sit down and see it last night. I must
say, it was pretty interesting. It basically is a short shockwave video (a
few minutes long) with some sound about 9/11 and terrorism. My advice is
to check it out, and have your volume on if you can. It kinda adds to the
presentation. Whatever your thoughts are regarding 9/11, terrorism, and/or
the war, the video (I think) is worth watching. Being there in NYC on
09/11/01, the video brought back some crazy memories. (link)
Anyway, thanks to Jessica for sending it to me. I
apologize for it taking me so long to post. Okay y'all, I'll post more
tomorrow. Bye! -- Michael
05/18/04 -- I finally got everything on the
website working again today. I had some problems with it this past week,
but I finally got around to fixin' it this afternoon. I'll be updatin'
today, and hopefully have it current by tomorrow. Thanks for the patience
y'all! -- Michael
05/11/04 -- Well, I guess all the lack of sleep
FINALLY caught up to me last night. I got home from the game, showered,
and then just crashed! I mean like I sat down, turned on the TV, and
before I could even think about what I needed to do, I was out! Man, I
really needed that. So here I am this morning, still tired though, cause I
got too much sleep! Haha, you know how sometimes you get more sleep than you are
used to? Well, this mornin' that's me!
Okay, there have been a lot of peeps writing in about the
pictures. I know the OU one is fake because the picture is being sent
around with different messages on the sign, all with the same pen
handwriting. It's obvious. But, the spider picture is a little more
divided in the opinions. Jimmy reiterated that he felt the picture is
real, and even sent me an excerpt he pulled on the picture. Though some
have thought they are fake, claiming the picture is all over the net, others
side with Jimbo believing the pic is real. One person went so far as to
say that he has seen one with his own eyes. I am still not sure. The
tag looking things on the back of the spider is what makes me think it might be
a fake. But I have been known to be wrong MANY MANY times!
Thanks to Hunter Young for sending in his information for the
Classmates section. More names should be on the way. I also have
some more questions I'll be adding to the Q & A page. I'll try to get
to all that later today. Hope all is well. Bye y'all! --
Michael
05/10/04 -- Hi y'all! I don't have much
time to write this morning. I am going to try to do some updating during
the day though, so besides this post, there'll probably be some changes later in
the afternoon. In the meantime though, this will have to do.
Does anyone watch 'Survivor'? Last night was the finally
and I absolutely LOVED it! I don't know about y'all, but I think Boston
Rob kicked ass during this season. I don't buy all that " friend" crap that
some of the sore loser contestants try to preach. They are such hypocrites.
You have to screw someone over, or get screwed over. They all bitched at
how others played the game dirty and how that is so low. Well, guess what
folks? That's the reason why y'all are sitting back in the rows or in the
jury, and why Boston Rob and Amber were in the final two chairs. Screw the
friendship crap. The game is for a
million large. All those people went into that game to win. I don't
think anyone went in there thinking, "well, I'll play as well as I can
without lying and hope it all works out". Yeah right! Everyone
was there to backstab and lie and do anything they could to save their butt and
stay in the game. It's so annoying to see those who got voted off be so
damn bitter.
I think Boston Rob outsmarted everyone. I liked he and
Amber both. I think he deserved it more, though I guess it doesn't really
matter in the end. I thought it was cool that he proposed to her like
that. If they do in fact get married, it would be neat cause they met on
the show and all. It would also be a slap in the face to all those who
thought they were just playin' each other to get closer to the money. They
both won big. Boston Rob won the Chevy Colorado in the last
reward challenge, plus the $100k 2nd place prize money. Amber won the
million, plus the Chevy Equinox that essentially Rob gave to her in that same
challenge because he chose her to come with him to the drive in. And
considering their engagement, barring a prenup, all that basically becomes
community property amongst the two! So they both pretty much cleaned
up...especially Boston Rob because he also got the girl and Amber is freakin' HOT!!!
Some people slammed this All Stars season, but I loved it.
'Sopranos' and 'Deadwood' were also good last night. I finished the
evening off with some computer work I needed to finish, and that was about
it. I got to end this one here, so I'll write more tomorrow, and add a few
things later this afternoon. Check back! -- Michael
05/09/04 -- Happy Mothers' Day to my momma as well as
everyone else's momma!
05/07/04 -- Yeah, I am really tired this
morning. Well, at the last minute I decided to make the game, so I hauled
ass after so I could get home in time for 'Friends'. Man, that turned out to be
a bad move on my part, because I ended up coming down wrong on my ankle (again)
and it is pretty big now. It's kinda hard to walk. It's not broken
or anything, just swollen. But considering I have broken it three times
before, it's pretty shot. I should have just stayed home like I originally
planned.
I made it home like ten minutes into the show. I watched
it, and really liked how they ended everything. Of course Ross and Rachel
were going to get back together, but I really like the way they wrote it.
It sucks that the show ended, but it had to end sometime I guess. I'm
looking forward to 'Joey' next fall.
Referring to the two pictures at the bottom of Austin's page,
and responding to the e-mails I received about them, lol, I know they are
fakes. Lol, it wasn't hard to figure that out. If you look at the
spider one closely, you can see what looks like little tag things coming out of
it's back, the kind that attach price tags to clothes and stuffed animals and
stuff. And the OU picture, of course that one is fake. You can tell
by the writing on the cardboard. It's done in pen after the fact. It
doesn't take a CSI to figure that one out! I appreciate the people who
were being polite in wanting to let me know of the fakes in case I didn't
know. To those who basically acted like I am a dumbass, please
people! Do I ever say they are real in the captions? I used the word
"supposedly" in the spider one. The OU one I just said it was
funny. Funny does not equate to genuine. Of course they are
fakes. But I still thought they were funny enough to put in the page.
Anyway, that's about it for this morning. I'll end this
one here. 'Friends' was great and will be missed by me. 'ER' was
great last night also. I'm looking forward to next week's season finale
for that show. But for now, time to get going. Talk to y'all
later! -- Michael
05/06/04 -- Well, I hope everyone will be in
front of their TV tonight! Hello! Tonight is the 'Friends' Series
Finally!!! Could I BE anymore excited! You know, there is a reason
why us Gen X'ers are called the TV generation. It's because it was during
our childhood when television became the source for most all things,
entertainment definitely included. The next generation is already being
referred to as the internet generation, presumably for the same reason with
regard to the internet. For us though, it is television.
Some television shows become a part of pop culture and make
their mark in history. It is these shows that, even if you didn't watch
the show regularly, it's ending becomes an event and you just have to be like
everyone else and watch the finale. Series' end every year, but every year
doesn't contain a series ending that is treated as such an event. We were
pretty young at the time, so I never really watched 'M.A.S.H'. It's final
show remains the most watched episode in television history. However, I do
remember certain show finales. The first one I really remember is
'Dallas'. I used to watch that show every week with my parents and
sisters. We used to love it 'cause of all the drama and crazy storylines,
not to mention it was based in Texas. The "Who Shot J.R.?"
episode literally had America guessing for months when it finally aired in
1980. I remember sitting with my parents watching the final
show in 1991. I watched the show in reruns throughout the years, and
understand it and appreciate it a lot more now that I am an adult. Haha, I
still laugh at the fact that the made the entire '85-'86 season a dream!
Haha. I love 'Dallas'.
I never really watched 'Cheers'. I was with my sisters
when 'The Cosby Show' last aired. The last major finale was 'Seinfeld' in
1998. I never watched 'Seinfeld'. I know I know, everyone likes that
show. I just never got into it. But of course I had to watch the
final show, 'cause I knew everyone was. I had to record it though.
Haha, it was my sophomore year of undergrad when it ended. Gabe, Octavio,
and Hunter all had plans to watch it. There were people over at our
apartment that night for the show. I had my accounting final though, so I
had to watch it on tape when I got home. To this day though, it remains
the only 'Seinfeld' episode I have ever watched beginning to end.
Well, tonight 'Friends' ends. It is tied with 'Dallas' as
my favorite television show of all time. I can't believe we were in high
school when that show premiered. Rachel Horton was the one that got me
watching it. We were talking one morning in Mrs. Rains class, and she was
asking me if I thought Ross would get with Rachel with he comes back from
China. I didn't know what she was talking about, so I had to watch the
season 2 premiere that night to find out. It was my first time seeing the
show. I haven't stopped since. Obviously I saw all eps from the
first season through reruns. Alison and I used to watch it together, and
record it for the other when one would have to miss it. Haha, I am
laughing as I type all this. I just love that show!
So what will y'all be doing tonight? It's an event.
Years from now, I'll probably remember what I was doing when 'Friends'
ended. I imagine 'ER' will probably be the next show to end eventfully
when it actually ends years down the road. In any case though, all things
are pushed aside tonight. I am going to chill with some peeps and catch
the final episode. Sorry guys, but I am not making it to the game
tonight. Haha, 'Friends' takes precedence.
Okay y'all, I hope everyone has a great day. My TV will be
on NBC tonight. I hope it ends the way we all want it to. Talk to
y'all later! -- Michael
05/05/04 -- Crap, I'm late again. I SO
can't wait for this week to be over. There was a lot I wanted to write
today, but there is no time. I'll try to allow myself more time
tomorrow. Thanks to Erika (Serna) Bouts for sending in her
information. It's great to have you on Erika! Okay y'all...have a
great day and I'll talk to y'all tomorrow. Bye! -- Michael
05/04/04 -- I don't have much time to write this morning. I sent
out some e-mails last night. Thanks for the responses so far, and
hope to get more soon. I know, the Message
Board kinda crapped out yesterday. I have been working on
that, and hope to have it totally alleviated by later this
afternoon. Gotta run, talk to y'all later...bye! -- Michael
05/03/04 -- This weekend was alot of fun.
It was the first real time I have gone out in a long time. I
have ventured out a time or two over the last few weeks/months, though it
was never anything major as I was always thinkin' that I should be readin'
or finishin' something. This weekend though, I cleared the
appropriate time to allow me to meet up with Hunter since he was in from
California for Alison Friedrich's wedding. The weekend was a lot of
fun. I had a great time attending Alison's events, as well as seeing
all the familiar faces. I added some pictures from Alison's
Wedding Day in the Photo Album.
The only downer was when I spilled my entire drink on me, and a bit on
Stephanie also. Haha, it sucked! It wasn't that bad on Steph,
plus she was wearin' a black shirt. Lol, I had a nice wet stain on
my shirt for a little while though. At that point, I put back on my
coat and kept it on 'til my shirt dried. Haha, what can I say?... I
am a clutz!
I really did have a good time though. I hadn't seen
some of the people in years, and others in a few months. There are a
lot of good stories from the weekend. Jason Bragg's spider encounter
was pretty damn funny. I must vouch for him though, that thing was a
tarantula and HUGE! I could go on and on about midnight horseback
ridin', men with women's thongs on their heads, emu's disguised as
ostraches, endless 'Old School' movie references, margarita machines,
trenching the green ranch grass, etc. etc. etc. However, I think
I'll leave those stories and all others for those of us who
attended. Haha, it was a blast!
The rest of the weekend was okay, though it just seemed
way too short. I heard the Spurs game on the radio and was happy to
hear the victory. I was able to rest for a little while on Sunday,
but it was back to the grind at night. It's morning again, and time
to end this entry. Check out the pictures and also the Message
Board. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Talk to y'all
tomorrow! -- Michael
05/01/04 -- Alison Friedrich's wedding day in Boerne (N
San Antonio), TX!
Good mornin' y'all. Haha, even on a Saturday mornin' I am up
early! I needed to get up to finish a few things before I head out.
Yesterday I SO rested. I came home a bit early to get a few winks since
I have like none this whole week. I then got to readin', and watched the
Wolves-Nuggets game. After that I watched the baddass 'Kill Bill Vol. 1'
movie by Quentin Tarantino on DVD. He is my favorite director and all his
movies are awesome! 'Pulp Fiction' is my second favorite movie of all time
(behind 'The Godfather'). So after that was over I talked with Hunter for
a bit and then tried to finish some the readin', which I didn't quite get done.
So that is why I am up early today. I needed to finish that stuff
before the afternoon gets going. Hunter Thompson flew in from California
because today one of our close friends Alison Friedrich is getting
married. So Hunter and I, along with Stephanie Scates are headin' down to
San An for the wedding tonight. It should be a lot of fun. I hope to
see some faces. I haven't been able to get out much recently, and I even
had to do some rearranging just to be able to make it to the wedding
today. I'm happy to go though. It'll be nice to see some peeps that
I haven't seen in a while. Plus, Alison and Chris are both great
people. I hope to have some good pictures for the site from the event.
That's about it for me. I might be able to make a post sometime
tomorrow late afternoon or night. It depends on if I have time, 'cause I
need to do some shoppin' with my friend Monica, watch the Spurs whip-up on the
Lakers, and then watch the HBO shows 'The Sopranos' and 'Deadwood'. I'll
try. If I don't though, I'll catch up with y'all bright-n-early on Monday
mornin'. Man, I am tired just thinkin' 'bout Monday already! Okay,
talk to y'all then...bye! -- Michael
